CURRENT AND RECENT PROJECTS -Jessica- |
Ray Jenkins, December 30, 2005 LOGLINE: A chronically depressed young man has a meeting with an Angel which gives him hope that God has a plan and purpose for him. SYNOPSIS: Tim is shown sitting on a park bench on a college campus. He is chronically depressed, suicidal. He meets Jessica who engages him in a conversation that reveals to him that God has a plan for his life. Jessica vanishes leaving only the Bible with a note to T im as evidence of their conversation. He has a glimmer of hope as he begins to leaf through the Bible. PRODUCTION LOCATION: Northeast Houston Area, Kingwood, Texas PRODUCTION DATES: Auditions: January 14, 2006 Shoot Day: February 4, 2006 BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This is a 5 minute short film. The story and original screenplay were written by Philip Barker, with the rights to the screenplay released to DGW for production of this short film. This project is exciting to me for several reasons: 1. The writer, Philip, lives in Australia, while the production company is roughly half-way around the world in the U.S. I had been praying for such a single location, single day shoot Christian screenplay such as this for some time. My finding it was quite serendipitous, clearly an answered prayer. 2. This film speaks to an audience which I believe is quite large in number. Many people, saved and unsaved, come to a point in their lives where they become terribly discouraged and feel their is no point in being here. Truly believing that God knows you and has specific plans for you is so critical to living the way He intends. This screenplay speaks to that audience well. 3. The timing of getting the script is perfect. It is about the only time that we have leave-less trees and rather dull cloudy skies-the backdrop that reflects the young man's state of mind. 4. This could be the first of several projects that originate with scripts developed by Philip and produced here in the U.S.-an example of God connecting people to serve Him using our respective gifts. |
